#英語詞匯辨析#

非謂語動詞一直是英語學習的重點，學好了事半功倍，學不好危機四伏，特別是在考試中。有些動詞后面只接動名詞或不定式（帶 to 的或不帶 to 的），有些動詞后面既可以接動名詞，也可以接不定式，而且意思往往大相徑庭，有些令人苦不堪言，就比如 try to do 和 try doing.

一、try to do (make an effort)

Try to do 表示嘗試去做某事，所做之事有難度，所以需要做出努力，但是結(jié)果不一定成功，例如：

I must try to complete this report by the end of the day.

我必須設(shè)法在今天結(jié)束前完成這份報告。

Have you ever tried to learn a musical instrument?

你試過學樂器嗎？

You should try not to drink more than twice a week.

你應(yīng)該試著一周喝酒不要超過兩次。

He likes to try to beat his sister at chess, but she always wins.

他喜歡在國際象棋上試著打敗他妹妹，但她總是贏。

The children tried to put up the tent by themselves, but in the end they needed to ask their parents for help.

孩子們試圖自己搭起帳篷，但最后還是得向父母求助。

She tried to catch the bus, but she couldn't run fast enough.

她想趕上公共汽車，但跑得不夠快。

二、try doing sth (as an experiment or a test)

Try doing sth 表示尋找解決問題的方法，把做某事當作一個實驗或測試，且事情簡單；當你 try doing 某事時，這個動作總是會成功，但它可能會或不會幫助你的總體目標。當你為了解決問題而做某事時，使用 try doing sth，例如：

I’ve tried altering this recipe so many ways, but the cake never comes out quite right.

我試過很多方法來改變這個食譜，但蛋糕總是做得不對。

解析：每次改變食譜只是當作一個實驗，這個動作是簡單的且每次都成功了。

My phone stopped working, so I tried turning it off and on again.

我的手機停止工作了，所以我試著把它關(guān)掉再打開。

解析：每次開關(guān)手機只是一種測試，這個動作是簡單的且都成功了。

My colleague doesn’t seem to like me very much, even though I’ve tried inviting him to our social events.

The television’s not working. Try plugging it in.

三、區(qū)別

1. I tried to give up chocolate, but it was too hard. I always ate some when my friends offered it to me.

我試著放棄巧克力，但太難了。朋友給我的時候我總是吃一些。

解析：放棄巧克力這個動作是一件非常困難的事情，所以用 try to do sth.

I tried giving up chocolate but it didn't make me feel more healthy.

我試著放棄巧克力，但它并沒有讓我感覺更健康。

解析：放棄巧克力這個動作簡單而且已經(jīng)成功了。

2. It was too hot in the room. I tried opening the window. It didn't help though, because it was very hot outside too.

房間里太熱了。我試著打開窗戶。不過沒用，因為外面也很熱。

解析：打開窗戶只是一種嘗試，這個動作是簡單的且成功了，所以用 try doing.

I tried to open the window, but I couldn't because it was stuck.
